Where can I use my Litecubes?
All Litecube products are fully sealed
against liquids, but do not require immersion to produce wonderful color. Use them in drinks, floral arrangements and vases, punch bowls, fountains,
paper lanterns...wherever your imagination takes you. For maximum beauty and drink-cooling power, use Litecubes with real ice.
How do I turn Litecube products on and off?
On most Litecube products a single push of the button produces a "heartbeat" pulse, a second produces a fast blink, the third push turns it steadily on and a final one turns it off. The exception to this rule are the "Rainbow" products, where each push of the button produces a differing color effect or turns the effect off.
Original design Litecubes operate the way a light switch does - there is only one direction 'on' and one direction 'off'. To turn on, tap the 'on' SIDE of the Litecube against your palm or other similar surface. Please don't stand it upright and tap; it will not light this way. You can tell which is the 'on' side in two ways. If you look at the bottom of the cube, you will see two arrows. One will point to the side that will turn the Litecube on and says "tap on". You can also feel around the base of the cube with your finger. The tiny protruding arrow you find on the bottom points to the side which must be pointing downward to activate when tapped in that direction. The opposite side is the "tap off" direction as can be seen by the second directional arrow printed on the bottom.
How long do Litecubes last? Boy, that's a tough question. It's a little like asking how long will my ball of string last...it depends on how you use it, how often you use it and how much you use it at any given time. The short answer is long enough for you or your clients to have lots and lots of fun with them. The long answer is, well, complicated. With intermittent usage, any cube should get approximately between 25 and 35 hours of good light from the cube. After that they will dim down slowly, but last for many more hours. Some cubes use power at a faster rate than others. Some will show very little decline for a long period of time, others will show some reduction in brightness, reach a plateau of still very serviceable light and then go on for hours and hours. If, however, you choose to use them steadily, they will certainly last through a social event but their life span will not be as long. Generally speaking they should last between 12 and 30 hours. If you use them in flashing or pulsing mode, this too will affect the life span. Using your Litecube intermittently and allowing it to "rest" between uses maximizes the life of the lithium battery. Should you decide to freeze your Litecube product, rest assured that the lithium battery within likes the cold and it won't slow it down a bit! Remember, ALL Litecube products will easily get though any normal length event and with the propensity of guests to take them home, we can almost guarantee that they'll still be using their cubes (and remembering your event) for weeks and months to come.
Can the battery be replaced in a Litecube? It depends on the product. The answer in the case of Litecubes, Lite D'ice, Fruit Wedges, Fruit Sl'ices and Golf Lites is, unfortunately, no. Because most Litecube products are designed and FDA approved to be used in and around food items and in liquids, the battery must be double sealed within the cube and cannot be removed or recharged or replaced.
We strongly urge customers considering the battery issue to avoid those illegal copies of the cube which, while they may look identical, also offer replaceable batteries. They are not the safe, dependable Litecube which has been built to FDA standards.
Also, because the cost of a replacement battery would be more than the Litecube itself, it wouldn't be economically feasible for a customer to do so.
Having said that, the Lite Shot (glassware) is the exception in that it does allow for replacement batteries to be inserted into the exterior base - well away from contact with the human mouth or liquids.
In terms of outward appearance and functionality there is no difference between the two types of Litecubes. However, there are critical internal distinctions between the two categories.
"Category One" Litecube products are red, orange or yellow in color. Because the components required to produce these colors are more commonly found, they are less expensive to manufacture. Furthermore, these cubes require only one battery to light them.
"Category Two" products are green, blue and white in color. The components inside are rarer and much more expensive. In addition, these colors require two batteries to produce the same brilliance as one battery achieves in a Category One Litecube. These differences cause this category of product to be, on average, fifty cents more expensive to buy.
"Rainbows" can be set to red, green, blue or various combinations of those colors. The final phase before shutoff is a color changing mode. These cubes require two batteries and three LED bulbs. The difference in price is usually between five and ten cents each.
With the exception of the Lite Shot, Litecube products contain either one or two Lithium batteries that powers either one or three small LED bulbs. They also contain a specially designed non-toxic freezing gel designed to enhance and magnify the light being emitted.
We recommend that Litecubes be hand washed with hot soapy water before and between uses. Dishwasher use is not suggested.
Turn Litecubes off between uses and store them out of direct sunlight. They may be stored in the freezer if desired.
Yes, in one way or another all Litecube products can be customized with a logo either by inserting an image inside at the time of manufacture, or by pad printing in FDA approved food-grade ink on the exterior of the cube.
Golf Lites are suitable for pad printing only.
As the creators of this product, Litecubes worked very diligently in the design to produce an item that could be used around food and drinks being consumed SAFELY by humans and we are happy to report that our cube components have passed FDA muster for such usage. Indeed, we even count several federal government agencies as our clients!
In the extremely rare event of one breaking or cracking, please be aware that the gel inside is non toxic, but you should discard the cube and the drink that it is in immediately.
We will be happy to send you testing and other health and safety documentation upon request.
Litecubes are not meant for use by children under 3 years old because they may pose a choking hazard.
It is a sad fact of life that a successful product is replicated, often by individuals who have no concern for the health and safety of the end user of the product.
By replicating the Litecube design, it makes it difficult to detect false cubes at first glance. However, if you turn an authentic Litecube product over, you should see the our "light bulb" logo on the bottom.
Litecube vigorously and aggressively defends it's patent and copyrights worldwide. It is illegal to sell or to purchase Litecube simulates.
1 flat. Which leads to the question..."What's a flat?".
A flat is how Litecubes products are packaged. Each flat of Litecubes, Lite D'ice, Golf Lites, Fruit Wedges and Slices are packed with 24 units of the same color. Lite Shot glasses are packed 12 to a flat.
When considering your needs, please think in terms of 24 of any one color. If you need around 30 pink Litecubes, please decide to order either 24 or 48 of that color.
We are very happy to mix colors within an order, but always in multiples of 24 for each color.
A caseload of Litecubes equals 288 units.
